The initiative of the foundation of a new Research Center of new technologies, is born into a suggestion of a group of Bolivian researches people to be able the fulfill of the following intentions:

- To impel the research of new technologies of information with the purpose of responding to the increasing necessities of technology of the information in Bolivia.
- To impel the interchange of information technology to be able to participate and compete in international research projects with other institutions (universities, research centers, research networks).
- To collaborate with industries and national and international institutions through researches projects.
- To establish agreements and foreign agreements with institutions for the interchange and qualification of researches people.

Between the main activities of the center they stand out:
- Applied Research: development of new software and implementation of new technologies.
Organization of courses and seminaries of update in research and new technologies. Contacts with foreign organizations of investigation.
- Impulse and development of Internet2 in Bolivia.
- Development of the research network.

The applied investigation is made by full time investigators, who take care of the development of collaboration projects.
